We enjoyed a fantastic weekend together and I hope you all agree that this was the best convention ever! The standard in our region keep going up and this year was no exception. The venue also provided us with the best backdrop ever and the acoustics were outstanding. What a stage to sing on and we can't wait for the 2008 convention when we will be back in Birmingham Symphony hall. We celebrate our 3 new Master Directors in the region and the RMT sends big congratulations out to Aberdeen's Gwen Topp, Forth Valley's David Sangster and Surrey Harmony's Jenny Lawson. What a fantastic result for them and the region!
We also congratulate our winners, first timers Phoenix chorus and Flaunt! quartet. What a result for them! They will be great ambassadors for our region when they compete in Calgary and Hawaii. Both Phoenix and Flaunt! are contributing to the ever increasing standards in our region and we can't wait to see them strut their stuff on the International stage.
Thanks to all the competing quartets and choruses. You are putting in tremendous efforts, you are all fantastic and we applaud you all! The feedback from our members is so positive and we are delighted that you had such fun. It takes a lot of effort to organise the convention and it gives the RMT and Convention team great pleasure to see our members enjoy themselves. Spotlight quartet was a natural highlight of the weekend and we really enjoyed their show performances and education classes.
The coup of getting Spotlight on the famous BBC Breakfast sofa gave the region a fantastic publicity opportunity and many eyes will have been opened to what women's barbershop is all about. We look forward to seeing you all back in Birmingham for more next year - we'll be bigger and better again! Until then - keep singing! Marketing Co-ordinator,
