Sweet Adelines International 2006 Quartet champions “Spotlight” are due to appear on the famous BBC Breakfast sofa
on Friday morning 11 May. Patti, LeAnn, Kendra and Kerry have been invited to appear on the programme to show BBC breakfast viewers just why they are Queens of Harmony.
“We are thrilled and excited about appearing on the BBC” says Kendra. “We understand the programme has 5 million viewers, that’s a lot of potential Sweet Adelines out there.
We’re busy deciding what to sing and what to wear and we’ll be doing our best to promote Sweet Adelines here in the UK.” BBC Breakfast invited Spotlight to appear after hearing they were visiting the U.K. to perform at our Regional Convention in Birmingham. It’s turning out to be a busy week for the quartet, two of whom are squeezing in a visit to Scotland as well as London and Birmingham into a very short trip. They also have a luggage problem not many people have to face. LeAnn says: “Our Crowns are really quite big and of course we have to hand carry them to make sure they are safe. We might have a bit of explaining to do at airport security”. Patti says: “We can’t wait to meet everyone in Region 31, especially the members of the RMT with whom we have been exchanging emails for the last few months. It will be great to put faces to the names at last.” “We’ve been told that the competition this year will be hotter than ever” says Kerry, “so we are looking forward to both the Quartet and Chorus competitions and of course finding out which Chorus will get to go to Hawaii”.
